Area Forecast Discussion
National Weather Service Flagstaff AZ
150 AM MST Tue Apr 8 2025

.SYNOPSIS...A warming trend will continue through the week, with
good chances for record-breaking daytime highs Thursday and
Friday. A slight cooling trend will occur over the weekend and
into next week, but temperatures will still settle above normal
for this time of year. Also, elevated winds look to return for
the weekend.

&&

.DISCUSSION...Daytime highs will continue to climb through the
end of the week as high pressure has settled across the region.
Expect temperatures to reach 15-20 degrees above normal by
Thursday and Friday, likely being the peak of this current warming
trend.

This pattern looks to shift later this weekend, with a dry low
pressure system pushing in from off the southern California Coast.
Not much excitement will come from this disturbance, but slightly
cooler temperatures and gusty southwest winds are expected.

Beyond the beginning of next week, model guidance is not sure what
to make of the next low pressure system. Solutions are all over
the board with timing, trajectory, and the like and the such. If
there`s anything that is aligned across the board, it`s the fact
that dry conditions should still persist with cooler daytime
highs.

&&

.AVIATION...Tuesday 08/06Z through Wednesday 09/06Z...VFR conditions
with light and VRB winds, becoming W/SW 5-15 kts after 18Z.

OUTLOOK...Wednesday 09/06Z through Friday 11/06Z...VFR conditions.
Daytime winds W/NW 5-15 kts on Wednesday, becoming VRB 10 kts or
less on Thursday.

&&

.FIRE WEATHER...Tuesday and Wednesday...Continued warming trend and
dry. Daytime high temperatures 10 to 15 degrees above normal. Daily
west through southwest winds 10 to 15 mph, mainly in the afternoon.

Thursday through Saturday...Very warm and dry. A potential for near
critical fire weather conditions develops Saturday. Winds from the
west through southwest again Thursday, 10 to 15 mph. Southwesterly
winds Friday increase to 10 to 20 mph. Southwest winds may increase
as high as 15 to 25 mph, with gusts from 30 to 40 mph on Saturday.
However, confidence is low to moderate at this time.

.FGZ WATCHES/WARNINGS/ADVISORIES...None.
